home tunes photos engagements videos membership about us social news piping instructor wanted are seeking a piping instructor for learner and young novice pipers. hours are 7-9 pm weekly on thursday evenings in the comrie primary school. remuneration by arrangement. the band are also looking for experienced playing pipers and drummers to join up. practices on thursday evenings 7-9 pm as above and a regular programme of playing engagements in the comrie/crieff area mainly during the summer. enquiries to pipe major willie nicol on 01764 670557 or 07592 339802, or the band secretary on 01764 679730 or 07856 533978 dated january 2017 pipe band & friends cd release priced at 10 pounds each, the cd is available from the comrie post office and several other outlets in comrie, through pipe band members or by ringing 01764 679730. the cd is aimed at increasing the band's profile and also to raise money essential to offset the band's essential running costs, so support from its the sales would be much appreciated. click here for images of the cd. dated august 2015 pipe band & friends the 2016 programme of events is shown under engagements and everyone is very welcome to come to any of these and support the band. donations are always most welcome as the band has no other formal source of income. dated january 2015 welcome to ar canain's ar ceol - our language and music is based in scotland in the village of comrie , perthshire. the band plays as often as possible at local events including comrie fortnight and the famous comrie hogmanay flambeaux parade. we continue to grow the band by nurturing starters and by encouraging local pipers to join us. the band practises on thursdays in comrie primary school from 7pm until 9pm during school term times and we would actively encourage pipers, drummers and non-players to come along and meet us. programme summer 2016 the band is continuing its rehearsal programme on thursday evenings in the comrie primary school under pipe major willie nichol preparing for the busy summer programme of events which began on 2 april with the traditional easter parade in comrie. this was a successful event and the band turned out in strength, though the weather was poor and the audience smaller than usual as a result. sadly the pipe sergeant jonathan macdonald left us at the turn of the new year to seek a new business opportunity in skye where he was born and raised, and he will be much missed. however we have three new pipers approaching the standard to be able to play with the band on engagements, and discussions are currently in progress with a well known ex pipe major returning to live in crieff with a view to providing formal instruction on thursday practice evenings for learner pipers which is hoped will attract a number of youngsters in particular to learn how to play the pipes under expert tuition. drum sergeant ian mcgregor is continuing to provide tuition for up and coming snare drummers, and jennifer jarrett for tenor drummers, and again there are a number of learner drummers approaching the standard of becoming full playing members. the band is however always on the lookout for new members who are already playing pipers or drummers to join. although not a competing band, it maintains a high standard of music and performance in carrying out a busy programme of playing engagements, and at the same time is a friendly and welcoming group who enjoy their music and each others' company. engagements if you would like to hear the band play, please have a look at our engagement calendar for latest updates. you can even download all of our dates into your pc's calendar! touring although the band does not compete in rspba competitions, we have a great history of touring to canada (1994 & 1997), wick, and john o'groats. getting in touch if you would like to get in touch, please come to a practice night (see above) or email us. find us on facebook for more news website last updated 26th january, 2017 copyright © 2009-17 comrie & district piping association
